Group Therapy for Female Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
David Spiegel, M.D., Principal Investigator

This project is an examination of the benefits of group psychotherapy for female survivors of childhood sexual abuse. We are comparing the effectiveness of two types of psychotherapy for survivors: present-focused group psychotherapy and trauma-focused group psychotherapy. Participants will be randomly assigned to a present-focused, past-focused, or wait-list condition. All participants will receive 6 months of free group psychotherapy, but those in the wait-list condition will not receive their free therapy until 12 months after they have been accepted into the study.
